Barnsley’s League 1 season continued with a win against Shrewsbury at Greenhous Meadow on Saturday.

The recent resurgence of Barnsley continued with a three-nil win over relegation rivals Shrewsbury.

Sam Winnall, as he ran onto a long clearance, had the chance to put Barnsley ahead, which he took when firing past Shrewsbury ‘keeper Mark Halstead with 15-minutes played. Winnall was on the scoresheet again, with his 12th-goal of the season, as he home from 20-yards five-minutes later.

A chance to come back into the game came Shrewsbury’s way the Shrews had a penalty but Andy Mangan saw this saved by Barnsley ‘keeper Adam Davies. The points were secured in the final 20-minutes when Alfie Mawson, at the second attempt, added the third having seen his headed blocked.
