Since the departure of Brian Howard to Sheffield United, Barnsley boss Simon Davey is yet to decide who will become the permanent captain for the Oakwell outfit.

The Reds have been performing well of late, with defender Stephen Foster captaining the Tykes to three South Yorkshire derby victories.

However, manager Simon Davey is yet to make a decision as to whom will become the permanent Tyke’s leader.

Davey told barnsleyfc.co.uk:

‘I did not want to make a hasty decision when Brian left and I will be looking at that decision over the next week or so.

‘I have wanted to see who was going to come to the fore. Steven Foster and Jon Macken have had the armband and Darren Moore can do that job.’

Summer signing, Darren Moore, has just about gained the backing of the Oakwell faithful with his recent solid displays.

Simon continued:

‘Darren is already a skipper and does not need an armband but I could get something more out of Macken or Fozzie with the armband on.’

The Reds will probably stick with Stephen Foster as the leader for tomorrow’s visit to The Valley.
