As Barnsley search for a new manager I can`t help but think that we will end up seeing the same circus as last time and ultimately giving the job to the assistant manager because no one else wants it.

I really can envisage a scenario where Barnsley identify a couple of targets who turn down the club so the board are forced to give it to Micky Mellon by default.

You could argue that the club is better run now than it was under Don Rowing but much of same still applies.

We have no money, a squad of players who are punching above their weight and it needs another miracle to stay up.

How many managers would find the prospect of managing Barnsley an attractive one? How many would back themselves to keep the club up? How many would want a relegation on their CV? I`m tipping not very many.

The new manager needs time and has to be allowed to take the club down and not lose his job but the club have shown no patience with managers and that is another thing that would put many off.

The fans have also shown no patience with managers and turned on them within a matter of weeks, would anyone want to come to a club like ours?

There are some managers that would back themselves to succeed and would relish the challenge, others who are out of work would simply need the money but I do see more reasons not to take the job than to take it and that is coming from a Barnsley fan. It probably looks even worse the outside looking in.
