Barnsley are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performances by George Williams in the Easter Weekend win and draw over Port Vale and Scunthorpe respectively was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Williams was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Williams excelled in Barnsley’s back line as they picked up four points from a tricky couple of Easter fixtures. A 0-0 draw with Scunthorpe United was followed by a fantastic 1-0 win at Port Vale, with the defence on top to prevent the Valiants building on their impressive home form this term.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Williams for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.

Full Team:

Trevor Carson (Hartlepool United), George Williams (Barnsley), Brian Wilson (Oldham Athletic), Michael Harriman (Wycombe Wanderers), Kyle Bennett (Portsmouth), Scott Brown (Accrington Stanley), Jason Kennedy (Carlisle United), Gavin Massey (Colchester United), Tom Hopper (Scunthorpe United), Jamille Matt (Plymouth Argyle), Ollie Watkins (Exeter).

Manager – Phil Parkinson (Bradford City).
