George Williams and George Smith were both allowed to leave Barnsley this summer with them confirmed as joining MK Dons and Gateshead respectively.

Williams has joined MK Dons on a free transfer, which will officially kick-in on 1st July with the defender able to play on either flank as a full back returning to the club he started his career with but had left four-years ago.

The 22-year-old was involved in 23-matches last season with the play-off final being his final appearances for the club who saw a new deal offered to him withdrawn seeing him pen a two-year deal with the League 1 side.

Smith is another who saw a new contract offer to him retracted.

Another member of last season JPT and promotion winning squad 19-year-old Smith played in 25-matches as well as having a loan spell with Crawley with him signing a one-year contract with Gateshead.
