Manager Danny Wilson has given his reaction to our one nil defeat to Doncaster Rovers this weekend and he was disappointed not to have taken at least a point from the game.

Speaking to the Official Site following the full time whistle, the manager explained.

‘A lot of their attacks came from our possession. We got into some great situations throughout the game. We had great possession but were loose with it. We had great possession in the back of them but lost it loosely, then they score a goal. We lost a tackle but the finish was fantastic. We had great opportunities to get the ball into key areas.’

Wilson goes on to say that we clearly had a threat in the game and at points we were overloading them at the back and in midfielder, but we failed to get the ball in and when we did we failed to get the right ball in and make the most of those moments in the match.

‘That’s what we’ve got to work at.’

Adding that he felt Mike Phenix has come in at a tough time in the game, and it was difficult for him to get involved but with how the day went he wasn’t going to ‘judge him on that.’

Ending his after match interview, he also discussed the sending off of Mason Holgate.

‘It’s a foul, again – short ball back to him. Mason’s inexperienced and he’s gone to ground. An experienced player may have stood up or let the possession go to them and close it down. At that stage of the game as well, it’s not a tackle with any maliciousness about it. He was committed to the ball and he’s left the ground. In this day and age it’s a sending off.’
