Jamal Campbell-Ryce is hoping to upset his former employers this weekend as the Reds travel to The Valley.

The Jamaican international has been in fine form for the Reds so far, and earned himself a new three-year contract.

The tricky winger, who came through the youth ranks at Charlton, told the club’s official website:

‘Charlton are a big club, a family club, and they have some fantastic players so it is going to be a big test.

‘I decided to drop down a few divisions to get games instead of not playing at Charlton.

‘If I stayed there and didn’t play then probably no-one would touch me.

‘Playing well regularly in the lower leagues has allowed me to climb back to a good level.

‘If you look at our budget compared to theirs you’d see the big difference, so just to be playing against a club of Charlton’s size is great.

‘This league is very tight and any mistakes will be costly so we wont be taking them lightly.’

Campbell-Ryce has made over fifty appearances for the Tykes since joining last year.
