Barnsley are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Sam Winnall in the four one victory over Wigan Athletic at the weekend at the DW Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Winnall was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘A brace from Winnall secured Barnsley`s place in the Sky Bet League 1 Play-Offs. Facing pressure from the teams below them, the Tykes romped to a 4-1 win away at champions Wigan Athletic to grab sixth spot, with the front man starring.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Winnall for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the three points and the confidence boost ahead of the Play Off semi finals having secured sixth place.

Full Team:

Sam Sargeant (Leyton Orient), Lee Brown (Bristol Rovers), Stephen Ward (Burnley), Chey Dunkley (Oxford United), Gaston Ramirez (Middlesbrough), Jake Livermore (Hull City), Jon Taylor (Peterborough United), Anthony Forde (Walsall), Sam Winnall (Barnsley), Jabo Ibehre (Carlisle United), Louis Rooney (Plymouth Argyle).

Manager – Darrell Clarke (Bristol Rovers).
