It probably wouldn’t be too likely that many, in fact any, of those involved for Barnsley in a Reds XI that faced West Yorkshire side Shelley Community Football Club will play in the Championship this season.

But you never know? If any are able to impress enough you can never say never!

This match, which saw Barnsley field two trialists (with both on the scoresheet), saw the Reds one-up ay half time before eventually running out four-one winners.

Dembele, one of the trialists, scored the first half goal. Jacob Brown, Tranni (the other trialist) and James Carvell, who had already hit the crossbar with a first half freekick scored with another to wrap up the win with these three strikes in the second half.

Shelley had the last say though profiting from a defensive mistake.

Reds XI – Walton (GK), Otley, Proctor, W. Smith, Dolan, Joey (T), Tranni (T), Bird, Carvell, Brown, Dembele (T)
Subs – Ash, Harris, Palmer, Patrick, Carneiro
