Barnsley Football Club have given League Two outfit Chesterfield until 4pm today to make a decision on whether to accept a £400,000 offer from the Tykes for top scorer Jamie Ward.
The Reds are believed to be one of three Championship Clubs in a bid to lure the 22-year-old to England`s second tier.
The former Torquay man has topped League Two`s scoring charts after bagging 16 goals for the Spireites so far this season. The youngster turned down the offer of a new contract at Saltergate but the Club will be looking for a decent transfer-fee, as Ward`s former Club Torquay United are set to cash in on a quarter of the decided fee.
Wherever Ward decides to go, the Spireites will be dealt with a massive blow, losing their top scorer and of course could wave goodbye to their promotion hopes via the play-offs.
