Barnsley fans will be delighted to hear the reds have captured ‘keeper Luke Steele on a permanent basis.

The Peterborough born shot stopper signed on loan from West Brom ahead of the tyke`s FA Cup fifth round clash at Anfield. After impressing both during the tie against Liverpool and for the rest of the season, Steele has now completed his move from the Hawthorns to Oakwell.

A delighted Simon Davey told the club`s official website:

“We are delighted to have netted Luke on a permanent basis after he performed so well for us last season.

Barnsley now have two brilliant ‘keepers on their books to compete for the number one position between the posts, a headache which Simon Davey will well and truly welcome.

Meanwhile Sheffield Utd boss Kevin Blackwell has denied his interest in Barnsley`s other FA Cup hero, Brian Howard. The goal-scoring midfielder bagged 14 goals last season and has been linked with a number of top flight clubs.

You can vote in out poll to decide which ‘keeper you think will be the red’s number one next season!
