Barnsley manager Simon Davey gave his thoughts following his side’s scoreless draw with bottom side Charlton Athletic this afternoon.

Simon told the post-match press conference:

‘The conditions were poor out there and both teams were scrappy. It was one of those drab and dour games to be fair and there was not a lot of football played.

‘Of course you always want to play exciting football and we know that we have not played well today. We had an off 90 minutes in terrible conditions.’

‘It was pleasing to get a point but we are not happy that we have not played well. Charlton had eight players behind the ball and defended well.’

Barnsley failed to create and clear-cut chances but when the ball did drop kindly for them, they failed to take advantage:

‘We had missed opportunities but we know that we have not played well. We have ground out a result and on a different day we could have won it. A point was probably fair.’
