Barnsley midfielder Jacob Butterfield is considering making a U-turn and signing a new deal with the club, snubbing North East duo Newcastle United and Middlesbrough according to reports from Sky Sports.

The 22-year-old missed the second half of last season with a serious knee injury suffered in the home match against Leeds, but he is now nearing full fitness and is considering his options.

It is believed Butterfield has been impressed by Hill`s plans for the new season, which have seen him pull of a significant coup with the signing of Egyptian striker Mido.

I really hope this is true. It would be great news for the club and who knows how far the team could go with the squad that Hill is building now.
