Barnsley defender Lee Collins has joined Shrewsbury on a one month loan deal.

Collins was signed permanently by reds boss Keith Hill following a successful stint on loan from Port Vale last season.

This season has seen the versatile defender slip well down the pecking order at Oakwell with right back Scott Wiseman being preferred to Collins at centre back.

Hill will no doubt stress that it is to give Collins some first team football and that he still has a future at the club. He can point to Chris Dagnall as proof that this has worked in the past.

However I can see Collins` days at Oakwell being numbered. He can operate anywhere across the back four but is 4th or 5th choice in every position when everyone is fit and available for selection.

He may not have been given as many chances as most of the other defenders to stake his claim but I can`t see his chance coming any time soon and at 24 he really should be looking for regular football.
