Barnsley’s young striker Michael Coulson is determined to get back to fitness after injuring his knee yet again.

Speaking to the Scarborough Evening News: ‘We were having a match in training, the keeper dived and took me out. It was snowy as well, so the fact that I slipped a little won’t have helped. It didn’t feel too bad at first but my knee has swelled up a lot since then. I just need a new knee to be honest because I’ve had enough trouble with this one to last a career.’

The 20-year-old seriously damaged his knee last year and has only just got back into the mix at Oakwell, but the former Scarborough front-man insists he’ll back in less than two months:

‘I went for a scan and they have booked me in for an operation to shave my cartilage and have a look around. I’ve been told that it could be another four to six weeks before I can get back playing.

‘I was involved against West Ham in the FA Cup earlier this month and I have been on the bench for a few other matches since I returned from my first injury. That is where I want to be again by the end of the season, and I’m confident I will be.’
