Barnsley manager Simon Davey has stated that the Reds are ready for what Crewe Alexandra may throw at his side in tomorrow`s League Cup clash at Gresty Road.
Simon told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:
“Crewe have a reputation for Cup shocks and play very good football. It will be tough but we are confident of getting a result.”
The last time the Tykes made the trip to Gresty Road was way back in December 2002, Crewe ran out 2-0 winners in the league as current Barnsley star Stephen Foster headed home a Kenny Lunt free-kick along with a strike from Rodney Jack in the 82nd minute.
Simon continued:
” It is important for us to go and win the game. We will always put out our strongest team in the Cup. We will take it very seriously because we need a cup run every year.”
Tomorrow`s game will kick off at 7:45pm.
