Davey reaction to defeat

Barnsley boss Simon Davey gave his thoughts following the Red’s 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

‘I think we deserved something out of the game but if you don’t put your chances away then you don’t get anything,’ said Davey.

Jon Macken was guilty of missing a free header in the first half after a great cross from Campbell-Ryce.

Davey continued:

‘We have had chances that you would expect us to put away. You would expect Jon Macken and Stephen Foster to put away those chances.’

‘We have been punished because of that. In this division, you can’t afford to come away from home and have clear-cut chances and miss them.

‘If you do that then you are always going to get punished because the other team always gets a chance and if they take it you are in trouble.

‘And that is what happened, Forest had one chance and took it, and took the points.’

Simon will be preparing his troops for the visit of Reading next Saturday in another tough Coca Cola Championship encounter.
