Defenders to be Given Chance

Barnsley manager Keith Hill has said that the central defenders currently at the club will be given the chance to show they`re up to Championship football.

Early in pre-season Hill said that an experienced central defender was top priority. After failing to land his main targets Hill has now put a defender down the priority list and will give players at the club their chance to show what they can do.

It looks likely that he will have Foster and McNulty has first choice with Edwards and Collins in reserve.

If they aren`t up to the job he will be looking to strengthen before the end of the August or afterwards on loan if no permanent addition can be made.

All of the players available are decent in their own right but I would feel far more at ease if Barnsley were to bring in another centre back that comes with a bit of pedigree and experience.

I hope the 4 we have are up to the task but I`m just not sure.
