Barnsley’s number two, Ryan Kidd, gave his thoughts following the Red’s fantastic 4-1 comeback win over Doncaster Rovers.

Speaking to the media after the game, Ryan said:

‘We were in desperate need of that. People were saying it was going to be ‘D-Day’ today, but our second half performance was fantastic.’

A first half penalty then Darren Moore’s dismisall appeared to have sealed the Red’s fate for the afternoon. But Barnsley were resiliant:

‘The penalty sucked the life out of us a bit and the crowd died down. After the sending off I thought the worst. But the gaffer deserves a big slap on the back, we were going to go back to a flat back four but the gaffer insisted on seeing how things went.’

Questions had been raised over Barnsley’s fitness and Kidd laughed off such a suggestion:

‘If those lads aren’t fit, I’ll show my backside on the town hall steps.’

The Reds will have to wait and see whether they can carry their great spirit through the international period.
