Greening In On Loan

Barnsley are set to sign midfielder Jonathan Greening on loan from Nottingham Forest until January.

Reds boss Keith Hill sees Greening as the ideal short term replacement for the injured David Perkins.

Barnsley have been linked with loan moves for several Forest players in recent weeks. This follows discussions with Forest boss Sean O`Driscoll following Barnsley`s home defeat to Forest earlier this season.

O`Driscoll agreed to help Hill out with any player`s surplus to requirements at Forest and now Greening joins fellow Forest player Marcus Tudgay at Oakwell.

Greening is 33 now but comes with vast experience. He started out at Manchester United and made 14 appearances before moving on to Middlesbrough, West Brom and Fulham.

A good signing in my opinion if recent injuries haven`t taken their toll too much. The fact that he can`t get in the Forest side doesn`t worry me; after all neither can Jermaine Jenas at the minute.

Now we seem to be talking, some experience at a higher level who may have a point to prove.
I am liking what is coming out of hill croft. Do we imagine ferguson shows loyalty to sub standard players? #doubtit

Think the board have realised unless we get some Championship quality/experienced players in then we will go down, so have given the green light for a little bit of extra spending on wages to get the right players in.
