Barnsley striker Iain Hume revealed to a Canadian news outlet how he deleted a text message he received from Sheffield United’s Chris Morgan, months after his terrible injury.

Edinburgh-born Hume was at the end of former Barnsley defender Chris Morgan’s vicious elbow in November 2008 – leaving the striker with a fractured skull and internal bleeding.

Speaking prior to Canada’s 2-1 friendly win over Honduras on Wednesday, Hume told Canada’s The Globe & Mail website: “He (Morgan) texted me about eight months after…’

Hume continued: “But it was the only contact he tried to make and, to be perfectly honest, it meant absolutely nothing to me so I hit delete.”

In the article, the former Tranmere man stated how he was ”unhappy” about how Morgan managed to get his phone number from one of his team mates.

Now Iain Hume is on the lookout for a new club, was the blow of Chris Morgan’s elbow the start of the downward spiral for Hume’s career?
