With Daniel Bogdanovic pulling up with a hamstring injury after 40 minutes at Home Park, the stage looks set at Brammall Lane for Iain Hume to start his first game against Sheffield United since he was on the receiving end of an illegal challenge from United`s Chris Morgan in November 2008.

The Canadian striker has made a remarkable recovery after suffering a life threatening elbow to the head in the Championship match at Oakwell some 17 months ago, a challenge which left him with a fractured skull and internal bleeding, but for which Morgan received just a yellow card. After a 9 month absence from the game, he made his first appearance back in a Barnsley shirt at home to Coventry City in August and has scored three in thirteen starts this season but has been playing second fiddle to Daniel Bogdanovic recently, who has knocked in seven goals in his last ten appearances.

Boggy started last night`s 0-0 draw with Plymouth but was forced off through injury after chasing down a loose ball. Hume replaced the Maltese striker and had chances to give the Reds all three points but was denied by a keeper in excellent form in Plymouth`s David Stockdale.

News is scarce on the extent of Bogdanovic`s injury with manager Mark Robins telling the club`s official website: “We`ll have to wait and see”, so this could open the door for Hume to make his first start in fifteen games for the Reds, having had just over two hours of first team action since January.

as nasty as it looked on the replay, no way would morgan set out to intentially hurt a fellow pro..it was an accident..no intent at all & a freak of an accident. hume goesdown very very easily and dived several times yesterday looking for a foul. he needs o get over it as a player because he is affecting his own game in a massive way. it shone through on sat that it was at the front of his mind for the full 90 mins. he needs to get over it.
