INTRODUCING DALE JENNINGS

As Barnsley’s first major signing of the summer is announced, it’s worth exploring a bit more about the former Liverpool youth product who ended up playing for the current European champions.

The association between a transfer from Bavaria to Barnsley will surely raise eyebrows, as it did when Jennings swapped Merseyside for Munich two years ago. So how did that happen exactly? Released as a youth player at Liverpool Jennings was picked up by Tranmere, he attracted the Germans interest after only thirty senior appearances, despite Bayern reportedly having no scouting network in England at that time. This is a natural talent who stood out because of exactly that, catching the eye of a certain Dietmar Hamann who appeared for MK Dons during the 2010/11 season.

Jennings, at the tender age of twenty, has already endured being rejected as a Liverpool youth player. He has suffered horrendous luck with injury in the two years since making that dream move to Bayern resulting in only a handful of first team opportunities. Despite a second setback the young winger is again looking to bounce back and resurrect his career, this time at Oakwell, under the stewardship of a manager who is prepared to invest in talent.

I’m sure many reds fans will be excited to see what Dale Jennings is all about.

Jennings and Toni Silva on the wings, unstoppable 😉
Should give the Academy products a starting place every few weeks (Shillito and Sousa etc.). The more experience at this level, the better they’ll get and the faster they will adjust.
