Barnsley defender Rob Kozluk has put pen to paper on a new one year deal with the club. His future had been the subject of some speculation after a handful of other Reds stars signed contract extensions just after last season ended.

But the 31 year old Kozluk told Barnsley’s official website there was never anywhere else he was going to go: ‘It is the perfect deal for me. As soon as the season finished Simon told me he wanted me to stay and there was never any question of me going anywhere else.’

He revealed that he was offered a three year deal at Selhurst Park with former boss Neil Warnock but turned down the move to Crystal Palace in favour of a shorter contract at Barnsley: ‘There was interest…but I didn’t want to leave Barnsley. I could have jumped ship but my family is settled and I am enjoying my football. I love it here.’

Rob joins strikers Jon Macken and Michael Coulson, goalkeeper Luke Steele and player of the season on new deals at Oakwell.
