The time has come for Luke Steele to be brought back into the Barnsley starting line up for the next game.

Alnwick has done well this season as Steele recovered from injury. And while he was playing well i do agree with Hill keeping faith him as getting dropped when playing well as soon as the number one is fit again would just say to Alnwick that no matter how well he played he wouldn`t be able to keep his spot. That once happened to Steele when Davey dropped him for the fit again Heinz Muller when Steele at the time was the form keeper.

Alnwick hasn`t made many mistakes but the performance against Nottingham Forest means that Steele should come back in. I don`t think many people would disagree that Steele is clearly the better keeper of the two.

I also think most people would agree that Steele would have comfortably saved the first three Forest goals. And despite an inept display from Barnsley if those had been saved they would probably have gone on to win the game.

I have a feeling however that Hill may stick with his man and give Alnwick the chance to redeem himself which in my opinion would be a mistake. I also think that there is something more going on with regards to Steele being out of contract in the summer and that being another reason Hill would be reluctant to throw him in.

One thing is for sure, after that display Alnwick`s confidence is definitely shot to pieces. The first mistake clearly got to him which played a part in the others. Another thing that definitely won`t have helped him is the chants for Steele coming from the home crowd and the ironic cheers for every routine save.

Sometimes I cannot understand the mentality of what is now the majority of football fans. It is at times as if they would like their team to do badly so they can moan and that they get on at players in the hope that they mess up again.

The fans pay their money and are entitled to voice their opinions and at times have a go at the team if they are underperforming. But something that is no good to anyone is having a go at individual players for mistakes they make. If they aren`t putting in the effort fair enough but the chants at Alnwick I don`t agree with just as I didn`t with the boos aimed at Butterfield and McEverley last season.
