Goals from former Barnsley target Kevin Philips and striker Gary O’Connor were enough to see off the Reds at St Andrew’s.

Yet it must be remembered that Birmingham have just been relegated and have a squad packed with Premier League stars. There is no reason for Barnsley fans to hit the panic button, it’s early doors yet and the Tykes have a host of first team contenders chomping at the bit.

One of the few Barnsley stars set to make an appearance in the reserves tomorrow night is Heinz Muller, the German giant is ready to face to Millers and will be a welcome sight for Simon Davey.

Barnsley may very well be sat slumped at the bottom of the Championship, but only silly people make rash judgements and decisions.

If you take a look at the current Premier League table, Portsmouth must be the worst team because they’re bottom…

Hang on a second, Harry Redknapp’s boys have had to endure arguably the two best teams in the world, Man Utd and Chelsea.

Patience is a virtue, and all the Barnsley fans need is a little patience and faith in their Club and manager.

There is no disgrace in losing to Birmingham City who among three of the best teams in this division. Wolves and Reading being the other two.
