Reds Release Marlon

Barnsley have confirmed the release of striker Marlon Harewood.

The news is not unexpected and I would like to thank Marlon for his efforts and performances last season and wish him well for the future.

Harewood played a big part in our Championship survival and I would myself probably have given him another year.

He`s never going to score many but he holds the ball up well and roughs up defenders and at times in games this aspect is vital.

I do however trust Flicker`s judgement. Harewood is knocking on a bit now and I think the Barnsley boss is confident of securing the permanent signing of O`Grady and may even have another striker in his sights.
