Barnsley have signed Norwich City striker Jamie Cureton on an emergency loan.

The 33-year-old joins the Reds on a three month loan and will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s clash with Nottingham Forest.

Simon Davey was delighted to have brought in an experienced and proven player at this level.

He told the club’s official website:

‘We have lost Iain (Hume) and our thoughts are with him but we need to ensure we have the firepower to maintain our excllent run. Jamie is a player I have admired for a long time and has a fantastic goalscoring record. He is another piece in the jigsaw here.

‘He is a goalscorer and is proven at this level and if he gets the opportunity he will put it in the back of the net.’

Cureton bagged fourteen goals for the Canaries last season, and hopefully the veteran will fire against Forest on his debut this Saturday.

Good signing. Hasn’t done much this season, but he’s definately got something in his locker…

I think it’s a great move, he’s a typical goal poacher, just what we need in front of goal. He’s just been unhappy at Norwich, I read an article on him a few weeks ago and he’s desperate to play football and score goals.
