Speaking to the club’s official website, Barnsley manager Mark Robins said that poor finishing cost the Reds in Saturday’s defeat to Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena.
Robins said that ‘being 2-0 down was probably not unjust because we did not take our chances.’ The Reds did have a host of chances to take the lead in the match before Freddie Eastwood headed in the opener on 24 minutes. Foster hit the bar with a good header and Bogdanovic could have possibly finished from close range but for a last ditch intervention and his being offside.
The Barnsley boss continued: ‘We were a little powderpuff in the first half and needed to show more desire up front.’ Robins was possibly referring to Daniel Bogdanovic who looked tired up front and was replaced at half time by Iain Hume.
‘I was pleased with Hume and Hammill and we started the second half well, got a goal and put them on the back foot for the rest of the game.’ said Robins, praising the impact of the two substitutes, but with the Reds failing to make chances count, Coventry killed off the game in injury time with a goal from Leon Best.
With this kind of performance, it’s hard to see us beating Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. I’d be happy with another draw.
