Mark Robins has utilised the gap in Barnsley’s playing schedule to get busy sorting out contracts with the existing playing staff and Luke Steele has signed a new deal, keeping him at the club until 2013.

The Oakwell custodian has been in fine form recently and has completed a consecutive hat-trick of clean sheets in the Reds’ last three Championship fixtures, which will have done a lot towards proving his worth to the club.

With 92 appearances to his name, Steele is now one of the club’s longest serving players and this signals his intention to firmly establish himself as the number one choice for years to come.
