Ahead of trip to Sheffield United this lunchtime Barnsley have confirmed the departures of two fringe squad player.

Meanwhile, the proposed transfer of Andy Yiadom to Huddersfield is OFF.

Stefan Payne, signed from Dover last summer, has left to join Shrewsbury, a club he played for on loan last season.

The Official Website said: ‘Payne joins the Shrews on a permanent basis for an undisclosed fee after initially playing for the League One side on loan during the 2016/17 campaign.’

Payne, 26, has signed a two year deal at Greenhous Meadow.

Another who arrived in 2016 was Sessi D’Almeida but first team chances were limited in his first campaign at Oakwell due to injury and he’s now been allowed to join League One rivals Blackpool.

‘D’Almeida joins the Seasiders on a permanent contract for an undisclosed fee. The Benin international midfielder joined the Reds in the summer of 2016, but saw his season cut short through serious injury and has since struggled to break into the first team lineup,’ said the Official Website.

These two have left but Yiadom, who was set to join Huddersfield, doesn’t appear to be going anywhere? Well, not to the John Smith’s Stadium anyway?

A deal had been agreed but this isn’t going to happen according to Terriers boss David Wagner.

He was quoted by Sky Sports: ‘To be honest I don’t like to go into details because he isn’t our player. It wasn’t down to financial reasons between the player and us. We were not able to come together but it was nothing to do with the financial side of the deal. He isn’t my player, he isn’t our player; this is something for Barnsley to answer and not me. This deal will not happen in this window.’

Yiadom, 25, had also been linked with Swansea and has seemingly been replaced by Andy Heckingbottom? The Ghanaian is now into the final year of his Reds deal, previously turning down the offer of an extended contract at Oakwell.
