Jamal Campbell Ryce’s second half strike against Doncaster Rovers in the 4-1 victory at Oakwell has taken the title of Vital Barnsley’s Goal Of The Season 2008/09.

The tricky Jamaican winger picked up the ball in his own half from goalkeeper Heinz Muller, ran from box to box beating several Rovers players before slotting home in front of the Ponty End past Sullivan to fire the Tykes into a 2-1 lead en route to a massive victory for both the club and the under fire manager Simon Davey. He scored 56% of your votes.

In second place was Iain Hume’s excellent volley at home to Derby County in the Reds’ 2-0 victory with 27%.

13% of the votes meant that third place went to the ex-Barnsley captain Brian Howard for his strike in the opening home game of the season against Coventry City.

Here’s hoping there will be a lot more goals to choose from next season!
