Words of Wilson

Barnsley boss Danny Wilson spoke to the media ahead of the reds trip to Charlton and had some interesting things to say.

As for the match itself, Dale Jennings is definitely out with a heel injury but Wilson is hoping to give him a run in the first team in the near future.

Bobby Hassell is still a doubt for the trip to the Valley but will be assessed before Wilson finalises his starting line-up.

Wilson was asked about the young players at the club and insisted the likes of Digby are in his future plans.

The Barnsley boss also responded to fans criticism of left back Tom Kennedy. Wilson doesn`t feel that TK is under performing and thinks the fans are being harsh by singling him out.

Whilst I don`t think he has performed as well as he did last season, he has by no means been as bad as most fans would have you believe. It shows just how much the fans are against him when against Coventry the centre halves were at fault for both goals and all of the criticism on social media was still directed at Kennedy, baffling to say the least.

Wilson is hopeful that a deal can be done to sign trialist Lawrence. Wilson wants him, he wants to sign, it is just a case of the player sorting a contract out with the club.

Wilson has also admitted that every player is available at the right price. I`m not really surprised to be honest as you can tell that Wilson has been far from impressed with the current playing squad`s capabilities.

He also said there has been interest in the clubs fringe players. I`m sure Wilson will be trying his best to get these fringe players out even if it means them going for nothing like Wiseman. This is poor business from the club but it shows just how desperate our situation is. The new boss doesn`t rate any of the current playing staff and only has one month to try and put together a squad capable of staying up. Other clubs now know our desperate we are to offload our dead wood so the chances of receiving fees are slim. The board have to back their new manager in such desperate times and will be hoping it will save money in the long run by staying up.

Wilson is hopeful that the loan deal for Ryan McLaughlin can be extended beyond its original 28 days. It needs to be until the end of the season now that our right back has been ‘sold`.

As for the Charlton match, for me it`s a must win if we are to have any hope of staying up. Hopefully we can do it. COYR.
