All Eyes On Palace

As Palace Take On West Brom tonight, all eyes are on the game that could send Sheffield Wednesday down.

The events at Selhurst Park will be broadcast live on Sky Sports tonight, as Sheffield Wednesday wait to find out if they get one last shot at survival. A win for Palace over WBA tonight and Wednesday are down, but a draw or a loss for the Eagles would mean that Wednesday could survive on Sunday by beating Palace, simultaneously sending them down instead.

As a Barnsley supporter it`s mixed emotions for me on this subject. A part of me would like to see Wednesday beat the drop, ultimately providing us with another local derby next season and bumper gate receipts.

However the overwhelming feeling inside is one that wants Wednesday to go down. The endless taunts we`ve had to endure over the years from this self-proclaimed “Big Club” would not cease but would surely subside considerably as they spend at least a year one full tier below us.

From a neutral point of view it`s come as a surprise to see Wednesday in such a state football wise. This pending investment issue has gone on for far too long now and they seem to be slipping by the wayside. The fans have remained hopeful that what they call a “sleeping giant” will wake up soon but timeis definitely running out for a club with such huge overheads but potentially only League 1 football to look forward to.
