Barnsley Offer Steele Reduced Terms

Barnsley have offered Luke Steele a new contract which would pay the reds stopper significantly less than he was on previously.

Steele is said to have declined the initial offer but keen to negotiate further. He wants to stay at the club and will accept less money than he was on before but feels the first offer was a case of the board trying their luck.

Other clubs are monitoring the situation and ready to swoop if no deal can be agreed.

Hull are said to be interested in Steele but that would probably as back-up and I don`t think he would accept that.

I am confident Steele will sign as long as the club are willing to pay him what he is worth. I think the club should stop messing about and make a reasonable offer.

With the 6 million saved by staying in the Championship, plus the good cup run, surely they can afford to keep him at the club..?
