Darren Moore is expected to regain his place in the starting line-up for the Reds after replacing the injured Rob Kozluk on 15 minutes against Leicester City in midweek. He slotted into the centre of defence to partner Stephen Foster and help the Reds to their first clean sheet in 10 games.

Rob Kozluk jarred his knee just a quarter of an hour into the match at Oakwell on Tuesday night and remains on the sidelines along with fellow full back Bobby Hassell, who is recovering from abdominal surgery.

Daniel Bogdanovic is once again available for selection after being kept out of the Leicester City win with a jarred knee. He will do well however to dislodge Iain Hume from his starting place after a fine performance over the full 90 minutes.

The Reds have an excellent record at Reading, unbeaten in their last six visits to the Royals, a run that stretches back to 1995 with three wins and three draws.

Barnsley have scored in every league game since the 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on October 20th but have notched up just one clean sheet away from home in the 1-0 victory over Doncaster Rovers.

Reading have not kept a clean sheet in the league at the Madejski Stadium since September when they drew against Doncaster Rovers. They have won just once this season at home, a 2-1 victory over Blackpool in November.

The stats therefore would suggest that the Reds will get on the scoresheet this afternoon and will probably not lose. But as we all know the game is not played on paper.

Prediction: Reading 1-1 Barnsley
