The Reds will travel to Gresty Road to face Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday 12th of August 2008 in the Carling Cup.
Last season saw Barnsley make a slightly more glamorous trip to St James’ Park to face the magpies.
Should Simon Davey choose to field his best team, Stephen Foster may line up against his former club in the heart of Barnsley’s defence.
Foster made over two hundred appearances for the Alex before departing for Burnley in 2006.
In his first season at Oakwell, Stephen bagged the player of the season award along with scoring a vital goal at Anfield in the Red`s 2-1 win during the FA Cup clash.
