Reading have made a bid for Barnsley’s star winger, Jamal Campbell-Ryce.

The sum is believed to be in the region of £1,000,000 and manager Simon Davey admits that the Jamaican international may leave Oakwell.

Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Davey said:

‘When you get bids of this size, it’s a big temptation.’

But what’s money to Barnsley as attracting a million-pound player themselves needs million-pound ambitions.

The Reds boss continued:

‘Sometimes you have to deal with losing players. I hope he stays but I have to be realistic and there’s a chance he may leave.’

Jamal, who signed for £175,000 in August 2007, has been in exceptional form so far this season, attracting attention from many clubs.

The wizard of the wing, who turns 26 in April, has bagged six goals already this season.

Well I think that performance at Norwich could just have made JCR’s mind up about what this club can achieve! How can we hold onto our best players when we’re a below average championship team, i’m very disheartened with the way results are going right now.

£1m? i would hold out for about £2m seeing reading still have premiership money.
