Hugo Colace has stunned Barnsley supporters by signing a new two year deal at Barnsley.
The 26-year-old won the supporters Player of the Year award last season for some great performances and chipping in with 7 goals from midfield.
Earlier this summer it looked likely that Colace would leave the club, having stalled on a new deal and not giving an answer before the club`s deadline. He was even removed from the club`s squad list on the official website.
Colace has told the official site that it was the supporters that influenced his decision to stay at Barnsley: “I had many, many clubs wanting me to come to them, but after thinking long and hard I could not turn my back on the club and the supporters, especially those who voted me their Player of the Year.’ Colace was reported to be interesting Swansea City`s manager Paulo Sousa but he defected to Leicester City.
The Argentinian midfielder should be challenged for a place a little more this season with Nathan Doyle and new loan signing Diego Arismendi competing for the defensive midfield role.

at the end of the day he’s a pro, and if someone offered me more money to do the same job as I do now, I’d probably take it. It’s a little disappointing sure but all we be forgotten if he leads us to the play-offs!
