In a refreshing change, the Barnsley boss has admitted to being at fault for Tuesday night’s Carling Cup exit to Morecambe at Oakwell.

The former Rochdale boss took charge of his second competitive match with the Reds, his first at Oakwell, with the view to progressing to Round 2 of the Carling Cup.

The Reds were beaten by the League 2 side however, 2-0 thanks to goals from Carlton and Ellison.

Hill told Barnsley Player: ‘I was expecting us to win the match. Football is a game of decisions. Good and bad. We’ve made some bad decisions tonight as players and as a manager. I’ve got accept responsibility.’

He continued: ‘I’ve learnt a lot tonight. I’ll be looking for a positive reaction.’
