Latics’ Revenge

Barnsley’s League 1 season continued with a two-nil defeat against Wigan at Oakwell on Saturday as the Latics gained a measure of revenge for the recent JPT defeat at the DW Stadium.

Wigan went ahead early in the first half when Andy Kellett took a chance given to him when Michael Jacobs set him away, he would have doubled the lad in the second half but for a save from Barnsley ‘keeper Adam Davies.

The Reds could have drawn level, at least they had a chance, but Sam Winnall headed over with that miss proving costly late on.

Yanic Wildschut made the most of a defensive mistake to secure the points for the Latics with four-minutes left to move them up to fifth, a position Barnsley would have anticipated being in around this point of the season….

As it is the Reds are very much in a relegation battle at Christmas!
