Barnsley boss David Flitcroft has criticised coaching in English football describing some coaches as lazy.

Flicker thinks the focus is no longer on player development as it should be and that all many coaches care about is whether they win or lose and other things on the management side rather than spending time on the training field.

The Barnsley boss doesn`t care if the under 21s are losing every weeks as long as they are learning and developing and it`s because many are already in the first team squad. Whereas for many even at that level it`s all about results.

Flitcroft blames it on a clear lack of direction in the English game and no clear style of play and structure.

One thing is for sure and that is that Flitcroft has certainly developed this current squad of Barnsley players and doing so gives him great pride.

With his work ethic and belief I do wonder what he could do with a more talented group of players.

I`ve said it before and I`ll say it again, give him a long term contract now.
