Barnsley grabbed another win in their pre-season campaign as they beat lowly Frickley Athletic 3-1.

The Reds got off to a flyer within 30 seconds when Martin Devaney scored a rare header meeting a cross from Jacob Butterfield to nod home easily.

It wasn’t all smiles for the Reds early on though as Frickley equalised after five minutes with a header themselves.

Maltese international striker Daniel Bogdanovic looked desperate to add to his pre-season tally and went close with a couple of efforts in the first half but got his goal just after the half hour mark, beating the keeper MacDonald when one on one.

The Reds came out in the second half looking to kill the game and did so within five minutes of the restart through promising young midfielder Jacob Butterfield who found space in the box to send a low drive into the net.

There were appearances from the bench from record breaker Reuben Noble-Lazarus and Jordan Hibbert, replacing Martin Devaney and trialist Deogo respectively and the Reds played out the game to maintain their unbeaten pre-season.
