Kayode Odejayi has moved to Colchester United on a three month loan deal.

The Nigerian striker has endured a difficult couple of seasons at Oakwell and has failed to produce the form he showed in preseason when he knocked in almost a goal a game.

He replaced O’Neil Thompson on Saturday afternoon against Watford but was substituted himself 50 minutes later after failing to impress manager Mark Robins.

Robins told the club’s official website that ‘he needs to kick start his career’ and his performance during and after his loan deal could prove pivotal in Robins decision in whether or not to offer Odejayi a contract extension in the summer, should he not leave in the January transfer window.

The Reds still have 6 strikers to call upon in Andy Gray, Jon Macken, Iain Hume, Daniel Bogdanovic, Michael Coulson and Onome Sodje.
