Simon Davey’s hunt for a new number 2 goes on and David Preece will be hoping to fill Luke Steele’s old gloves as understudy to the young custodian.

The 32 keeper will be looked at in the games this week against Buxton and Ferencvaros as the Reds look to sign a back up keeper before the season begins, having released Kyle Letheren and sold Heinz Muller.

Preece started out with Darlington before joining scottish outfit Aberdeen, where he spent 6 years.

Until recently the keeper has been plying his trade in Denmark but will be looking for a move closer to his hometown of Sunderland.
