The writer of Vitalfootball is gladly eating Humble Pie after Kayode Odejayi bagged a brace to lift Barnsley out of the relegation zone.

Things looked bleak prior to the big match as both captain Brian Howard and winger Martin Devaney were ruled out through injury.

318 diehard tykes made the long trip to Watford and were rewarded in style. Barnsley`s first real chance fell to Odejayi on 16 minutes when Macken looped a splendid pass to the Nigerian, but the 26 year old blazed over with only the ‘keeper to beat.

However the big man made amends ten minutes before the break after finishing off Jon Macken`s cross come shot at the back post.

The hornets only managed one shot on goal throughout the 90 minutes and Stephen Foster punished Aidy Boothroyd`s men with a powerful header from a Leon corner two minutes after the restart.

The loyal away fans were in full voice and Sunday`s Cup heartache was soon forgotten when Odejayi put the game beyond doubt on 64 minutes. Diego Leon picked out the striker with a splendid pass and the big man finished spectacularly from inside the box after shrugging off Danny Shittu.

Credit must go to the entire team who bounced back tremendously after Sunday’s defeat at Wembley.

Next up: Preston North End – Sat 12th April

Special thanks to Craig ‘Savtastic’ Savage for use of his wireles laptop on the way home from Watford.

Well played your boys, thoroughly deserved, we were carp. Hope you stay up, because a team that plays better football than us deserves it more, even if we aren’t fighting relegation. Leon was superb I thought. Unlike our Jordan Stewart, he attempted flash tricks, all of which he succssfully pulled off! Keep it up the Tykes

Well you were the team that have sent the U’s down, although we have been crap, sounds like you deserved it though.

Great result, shame you didn’t do it on Saturday. We at Pompey were willing you on to beat Cardiff. Never mind, I trust we will. Good luck on survival.

Now then lads, good result against them lot. Did the away end sell out as quick as Wembley? It *****es me off if anything like that happens at the Lane & these extra fans disappear who “love the club”
