Very soon it will be time once again to begin the magical journey that is the F.A. Cup.

Barnsley fans will remember fondly the excellent run we had in the cup in 2008, which all started with a victory over Blackpool in the third round at Oakwell, courtesy of a Stephen Foster equaliser and a winner from Michael Coulson.

2009’s F.A. Cup came and went quickly, with a forgettable exit to West Ham United at Upton Park but in 2010 it begins again with a trip to Glanford Park for the Reds to face what many Reds fans like to call ‘the Barnsley Reserves’.

Scunthorpe United have Paul Hayes, Grant McCann and Sam Togwell on their books at the moment, all ex-Tykes. Togwell was one of the players at Oakwell for the famous cup run of 2008 and played his part in the momentous victory of the erstwhile holders Chelsea, with Kayode Odejayi scoring the only goal of the game. Incidentally, Odejayi later went to Scunthorpe United on loan.

Barnsley’s F.A. Cup dream begins again on the weekend of January 2nd 2010.
