In training on Monday Barnsley’s Luke Steele injured his finger and as a result will be out of action for six weeks.
He has fractured his distal phalange on the fourth finger of his right hand and will be going for an x-ray next week to see if it is healing properly.
In the meantime this opens the door for Barnsley’s new signing and back up goal keeper David Preece. Only 5 games into the season, the ex-Aberdeen shot stopper hasn’t had to wait long for his Barnsley debut and will be guarding the goals at Vicarage Road a week on Saturday, hopefully helping to keep Barnsley’s first clean sheet of the season in the league.
