Barnsley boss David Flitcroft has denied rumours that former England striker Andy Johnson is training with the club and set to play in Friday`s friendly against Club Brugge.

Johnson has spent a large chunk of his career in the Premier League and has played for Birmingham, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham and QPR.

He would be a great signing for the reds but he is surely out of our price range with regards to wages.

Flicker has said that he is one striker away from a balanced squad. I would agree with this but I still wouldn`t mind more players coming in if the right ones were available.

What do the readers think? Do we have any chance of landing Johnson? Is Flicker telling the truth with his denial or is he trying to keep it away from the attention of rival clubs?

If he’s even half as sharp a he used to be he would give us 15 a season & fill gap empty since Chopra. If he does sign hopefully we won’t coin him when he scores! Can we get him? I think so when you look at his options the clubs that could pay big wages won’t want him

i think wages would kill us off, ive heard a rumour we are after Nathan Tyson, any news?

Not heard anything about Nathan Tyson but I will ask around.

I was hoping Flicker might have just been playing down the Johnson link but it does look like there is no chance and he will be staying at QPR.
