Let`s hope Devaney delivers?again

People have talked of how Brian Howard silenced the Kop in the last minute at Anfield and how Odejayi nodded the reds into the cup semi-final. However one man seems to have gone unnoticed in his contribution towards Barnsley`s great run: Martin ‘disco` Devaney.

Martin has come a very long way having been picked up on a free transfer from Watford by Andy Ritchie back in 2005.

Everyone knows how Stephen Foster equalised at Anfield with a splendid header but Martin Devaney was the provider, whipping in a world class cross after taking on Norwegian international, John Arne Riise.

Kayode Odejayi`s name has gone down in history after he leaped above Chelsea`s Italian ‘keeper Carlo Cudicini to head home Barnsley`s winner against the F.A Cup holders. Yet it was Martin Devaney who was once again the creator, whipping in another splendid cross to meet the head of the big Nigerian and send the reds to Wembley.

I also seem to remember the winger`s wicked cross against Swansea back in the play-off final in 2006 which eventually met the foot of Paul Hayes who volleyed home from 10 yards. A repeat of that against another Welsh club will do nicely this Sunday please, Martin.
